According to tradition, Confucius was born in 551 B.C., Spring and Autumn Period, at the beginning of the Hundred Schools of Thought philosophical movement.

Confucius, literally "Master Kong", (traditionally 28 September 551 BC – 479 BC) was a  Chinese thinker and social philosopher of the Spring and Autumn Period.

Confucius is said to have risen to the position of Justice Minister in Lu at the age of 53. According to the Records of the Grand Historian, the neighboring state of Qi was worried that Lu was becoming too powerful.

The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal and governmental  morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity.

These values gained prominence in China over other doctrines, such as Legalism or Taoism during the  Han Dynasty (206 BC – AD 220).

Confucius thoughts have been developed into a system of philosophy known as Confucianism.
